Content is King! – Website Words

By : Cathy Lindsay

The first words you will hear or read when researching how to plan out your website is that “Content is King”. And why not, everyone wants their sites to be rich as royalty correct? It could be your personal site that you might have some Google Adsense on to make a few extra dollars a month, or your own business website. We always want hits, we want the traffic and we all want the top spot.

What does it take to get there and how soon can it be accomplished? You can research online to find many sources of free information regarding SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and even some paid eBooks out there willing to let you learn how to do the best you can when it comes to driving traffic into your site from the places like Yahoo! and Google.

Do you want to pay someone to analyze your site now and give you feedback on what can be changed and change it? Are you using words that are relevant to your sites purpose? Are these words easy to find on the subject matter and are you doing this all legal as to the TOS for search engines’?

How can you get the content you want on your sites and still be ethical in doing so? When visitors are searching for something online they are most times using very few keywords in a search engine to find exactly what they need. The information you provide with the words on your site help that user to find you and then continue to purchase your product or surf around your domain.

Most people are not going to stay on a website that has limited information on what they need, so you need to make sure they do stay. This comes with a flowing site that is easy to read, and the real information they came for.

Many places have picked up on keyword stuffing and its one of the things that many consider unethical in trying to find the best SEO routes to take. Do not be fooled by the ways that many use as a quick “easy out” like keyword stuffing, or even spamdexing (repetitive keywords used to manipulate the SE’s indexing system). While you do want to have the best content on your site relating to your purpose, you do not want to have your site known for unethical practices either.
Are you using proper words for your site, is the spelling and grammar correct, are the words specific to what your site is about? Always keep your site current and up to date. The last thing a visitor wants to see is something outdated, that will drive them away quick too.

A good site always has original content, is updated properly and has something about it that makes visitors want to stay. If your site is not informative then visitors will go just as quickly as they came. Work hard and it does pay off, Content is King!
